A complaint to Metlink about a bus driver in Footscray

A complaint to Metlink about a bus driver in Footscray:

Hi,

On my bicycle ride home today through Footscray I was subjected to rude and aggressive driving by a Bus Link bus driver near Footscray station.

A cyclist sharing the road with other road users should have the same rights as other road users. Today a bus driver stopped at some traffic lights next to me and started indicating left, wanting to stop at an upcoming bus stop. As I was inside him, and had arrived at the stop before him, I didn't believe he had the right of way/priority. I left when the lights turned and the driver then proceeded to use his horn to indicate his displeasure, seeming to expect I should get out of his way as his vehicle was bigger then mine. When he stopped at the bus stop I stopped and tried to point out that I am another road user, but he started shouting and getting angry with me, so I left to continue my journey. After this the bus driver then roared past me as he left the stop to get to the  next left turn before me...

This isn't the first time I have found bus drivers to be unpleasant to bike riders. I use public transport as well as my bike, and appreciate being a bus driver may be a difficult job, but I do believe it should be possible for us all to get along together on the road, but equally I don't feel cyclists should have to feel intimidated by buses.

Regards,

Andrew
